Sebelum dimulai…..lebih baik anda buat dulu System Restore Point.

*DISABLE INDEXING SERVICES*
Indexing Services memang cuma sebuah program kecil tapi menggunakan RAM space yg lumayan banyak dan kadang seringkali membuat komputer kita jadi bising. System ini memproses indexes dand updates listsdari semua file yang ada di komputer. System ini dibuat ditujukan ketika kita akan mencari file atau sesuatu di komputer bisa menjadi lebih cepat karena semua file sudah di index kan. Jika kamu jarang sekali menggunakan fitur SEARCH atau bahkan termasuk sering juga melakukan SEARCH…tetap aja system service ini tidak begitu diperlukan.

Untuk mematikan fitu ini, ikuti langkah berikut:

1. Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
5. Click the Add/Remove Window Components
6. Uncheck the Indexing services
7. Click Next
*OPTIMISE DISPLAY SETTINGS*

Windows XP bisa jadi kelihatan sexy tapi menampilkan semua kemampuan visual bisa membuang percuma.

Untuk mengoptimasi:

1.Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click System
5. Click Advanced tab
6. In the Performance tab click Settings
7. Leave only the following ticked:
- Show shadows under menus
- Show shadows under mouse pointer
- Show translucent selection rectangle
- Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons
*SPEEDUP FOLDER BROWSING*

Kamu mungkin pernah memperhatikan setiap kali membuka My Computer untuk membuka folder atau mencari file selalu ada delay atau jeda waktu. Ini dikarenakan Windows XP akan secara otomatis mencari NETWORK File dan PRINTER setiap kali kamu membuka Explorer.

Untuk mengakalinya:

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on Tools menu
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the View tab.
5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok
8. Reboot your computer
*IMPROVE MEMORY USAGE*

Cacheman memperbaiki dan menambah performance dari komputer kamu dengan cara optimalisasi disk cache, memory dan beberap setting lainnya.

Setelah di install:

1.Go to Show Wizard and select All
2.Run all the wizards by selecting Next or Finished until you are back to the main menu. Use the defaults unless you know exactly what you are doing.
3.Exit and Save Cacheman
4.Restart Windows
*OPTIMISE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION*

Ada banyak sekali cara untuk melakukan hal ini, tetapi yang termudah adalah dengan menjalankan TCP/IP Optimizer.

1. Download here and install
2. Click the General Settings tab and select your Connection Speed (Kbps)
3. Click Network Adapter and choose the interface you use to connect to the Internet
4. Check Optimal Settings then Apply
5. Reboot
*OPTIMISE YOUR PAGEFILE*

Jika kamu memberi pagefile dengan angka yang tetap maka akan menghemat operating system dari penambahan ukuran page file.

1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties
2. Select the Advanced tab
3. Under Performance choose the Settings button
4. Select the Advanced tab again and under Virtual Memory select Change
5. Highlight the drive containing your page file and make the initial Size of the file the same as the Maximum Size of the file.

Windows XP memberi patokan page file dikisaran 1.5X dari jumlah actual physical memory by default. Yang mana ini merupakan hal yang bagus untuk RAM dibawah 512MB. Jika kamu hanya memiliki RAM 512MB atau dibawahnya, maka biarkan semua diatur Windows XP dari defaultnya. Tetapi jika kamu punya lebih dari 512MB, maka disarankan untuk merubah rasio ke 1:1 dari ukuran page file ke physical memory size.

*RUN BOOTVIS – IMPROVE BOOT TIMES*

BootVis bisa membuat operating system booting lebih cepat.

1. Download and Run
2. Select Trace
3. Select Next Boot and Driver Trace
4. A Trace Repetitions screen will appear, select Ok and Reboot
5. Upon reboot, BootVis will automatically start, analyze and log your system’s boot process. When it’s done, in the menu go to Trace and select Optimize System
6. Reboot.
7. When your machine has rebooted wait until you see the Optimizing System box appear. Be patient and wait for the process to complete
*REMOVE THE DESKTOP PICTURE *

Desktop backgroun kamu itu menyita banyak memory dan membuat loading jadi lebih lambat. Buang aja ganti ke BLANK biar lebih cepat.

1. Right click on Desktop and select Properties
2. Select the Desktop tab
3. In the Background window select None
4. Click Ok
*REMOVE FONTS FOR SPEED*

Fonts, terutama TrueType fonts, menggunakan lumayan banyak system resources. Untuk mengoptimasi performance, seleksi lagi fonts kamu hanya pada fonts yang sering digunakan.

1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Fonts folder
3. Move fonts you don’t need to a temporary directory (e.g. C:\FONTBKUP?) just in case you need or want to bring a few of them back. The more fonts you uninstall, the more system resources you will gain.
*DISABLE UNNECESSARY SERVICES*

Karena Windows XP ditujukan pada OS Sejuta Umat….maka banyak sekali services yang running. Sudah membutuhkan banyak space….makan memory…jarang dipake pula….

Ini ada beberapa services yang bisa kamu disable.

To disable these services:

Go to Start and then Run and type “services.msc”
Doubleclick on the service you want to change
Change the startup type to ‘Disable”
*TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE*

System Restore sering kali berguna ketika komputer kita bermasalah, tetapi Restore Points juga bakalan menyita jauh lebih banyak alokasi hardisk kita. Untuk mematikan System Restore:

Open Control Panel
Click on Performance and Maintenance
Click on System
Click on the System Restore tab
Tick ‘Turn off System Restore on All Drives’
Click ‘Ok’

*DEFRAGMENT YOUR PAGEFILE*

Dengan menjaga pagefile kita selalu ter-defrag bisa memberikan sumbangan untuk mempercepat performance boost. Salah satu cara terbaik untuk melakukannya adalah membuat partisi khusus untuk pagefile, jadi tidak terkena imbas langsung dari normal pemaikaian disk. Cara lainnya adalah selalu melakukan defrag pada page file kamu dengan menjalankan PageDefrag.

Download disini and Run PageDefrag
Tick “Defrag at next Reboot”,
Click “Ok”
Reboot

*SPEEDUP FOLDER ACCESS – DISABLE LAST ACCESS UPDATE*

Jika kamu mempunya banyak sekali folders dan subdirectories di komputer kamu, maka ketika kamu mengakses XP direktori akan membuang banyak sekali waktu untuk updating time stamp yang menunjukkan kapan terakhir kali kita mengakses direktori tersebut begitu juga subdirektorinya. Untuk menghentikan mode ini kamu harus masuk melalu registry…jika belum terbiasa mohon untuk tidak melakukannya.

Go to Start and then Run and type “regedit”
Click through the file system until you get to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem”
Right-click in a blank area of the window on the right and select ‘DWORD Value’
Create a new DWORD Value called ‘NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate’
Then Right click on the new value and select ‘Modify’
Change the Value Data to ‘1′
Click ‘OK’

*DISABLE SYSTEM SOUNDS*

Sangat mengejutkan memang, bunyi bunyian beeps yang disuarakan komputer kita itu ternyata bisa membuat lambat kinerja system, terutama pada startup dan shut-down. Untuk mematikan fitur ini:

Open Control Panel
Click Sounds and Audio Devices
Check Place volume icon in taskbar
Click Sounds Tab
Choose “No Sounds” for the Sound Scheme
Click “No”
Click “Apply”
Click “OK”

*IMPROVE BOOT TIMES*

Feature baru di Microsoft Windows XP adalah kemampuan untuk defrag booting. Cara ini akan menempatkan semua boot fils berseblahan di dalam disk agar booting bisa jadi lebih cepat. Secara default option ini sudah di enables tapi di beberapa builds cara ini tidak terlihat diakrifkan.

Go to Start Menu and Click Run
Type in “Regedit” then click ok
Find “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOpt imizeFunction”
Select “Enable” from the list on the right
Right on it and select “Modify”
Change the value to “Y to enable”
Reboot

*IMPROVE SWAPFILE PERFORMANCE*

Jika kamu meiliki lebih dari 256MB RAM, maka tweak ini akan lebih memberikan boost performance system kamu.

Go to Start then Run
Type “msconfig.exe” then ok
Click on the System.ini tab
Expand the 386enh tab by clicking on the plus sign
Click on new then in the blank box type”ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1″
Click OK
Restart PC

*MAKE YOUR MENUS LOAD FASTER*

Ini salah satu tweak favoritku karena terlihat sekali bedanya.

Go to Start then Run
Type ‘Regedit’ then click ‘Ok’
Find “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\”
Select “MenuShowDelay”
Right click and select “Modify’
Reduce the number to around “100″
This is the delay time before a menu is opened. You can set it to “0″ but it can make windows really hard to use as menus will open if you just look at them – well move your mouse over them anyway. I tend to go for anywhere between 50-150 depending on my mood

*MAKE PROGRAMS LOAD FASTER*

Tweak ini berlaku hampir diseluruh program. Jika ada program yang tidak bisa terbuka normal maka batalkan saja tweak ini.

Right-click on the icon/shortcut you use to launch the program
Select properties
In the ‘target’ box, add ‘ /prefetch:1′ at the end of the line.
Click “Ok”
Voila – your programs will now load faster.

*IMPROVE XP SHUTDOWN SPEED*

Tweak ini mengurangi waktu buat XP untuk menunggu sebelum secara otomatis menutup semua program yang running setelah kita beri perintah untuk shutdown.

Go to Start then select Run
Type ‘Regedit’ and click ok
Find ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\’
Select ‘WaitToKillAppTimeout’
Right click and select ‘Modify’
Change the value to ‘1000′
Click ‘OK’
Now select ‘HungAppTimeout’
Right click and select ‘Modify’
Change the value to ‘1000′
Click ‘OK’
Now find ‘HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop’
Select ‘WaitToKillAppTimeout’
Right click and select ‘Modify’
Change the value to ‘1000′
Click ‘OK’
Now find ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\’
Select ‘WaitToKillServiceTimeout’
Right click and select ‘Modify’
Change the value to ‘1000′
Click ‘OK’

*FREE UP MEMORY*

Ada aplikasi bagus punya FixMyXP. ClearMem namanya. Tools ini untuk mempercepat perfromance komputer kita (terutama komputer kita sudah menyala dalam jangka waktu yang lama dan banyak aplikasi yang dijalankan.

1. Go to your control panel, then click on ‘System’, then go to the ‘Advanced’ Tab, and Under ‘Performance’ click ‘Settings’ then the ‘Advanced’ Tab

2. On the Bottom you should see ‘Virtual Memory’ and a value. This is the value that must be at least as large as how much memory is in your system.

3. If the Virtual Memory Value is smaller than your system memory, click Change and change the Min Virtual Memory to a number that is greater than your total system memory, then click ‘Set’ and Reboot.

4. Once you have rebooted install ClearMem

*ENSURE XP IS USING DMA MODE*

XP enables DMA untuk Hard-Drives dan CD-Roms secara default hampir disemua ATA atau ATAPI (IDE) devices. Walaubagaimanapun, kadangkala komputer kita beralih ke PIO mode yang mana lebih lambat untuk data transfer – bisa jadi hal ini disebabkan adanya virus.

1. Open ‘Device Manager’

2. Double-click ‘IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers’

3. Right-click ‘Primary Channel’ and select ‘Properties’ and then ‘Advanced Settings’

4. In the ‘Current Transfer Mode’ drop-down box, select ‘DMA if Available’ if the current setting is ‘PIO Only’

*ADD CORRECT NETWORK CARD SETTINGS*

Banyak CPU yang menderita karena network card yang jelek atau pemakaian CPU yang berlebihan ketika CPU dalam keadaan idle.

1. RightClick ‘My Computer’

2. Select ‘Manage’

3. Click on ‘Device Manager’

4. DoubleClick your network adaptor under ‘Network Adapters’

5. In the new window, select the ‘Advanced’ tab

6. Select ‘Connection Type’ and select the correct type for your card and then Reboot

*REMOVE ANNOYING DELETE CONFIRMATION MESSAGES*

Walaupun ini tidak begitu meningkatkan performa mesin, tp lumayan jugalah mengurangi beban mesin juga mengurangi sebel harus klik berulang ulang.

1. Right-click on the ‘Recycle Bin’ on the desktop and then click ‘Properties’

2. Clear the ‘Display Delete Confirmation Dialog’ check box and click ‘Ok’

If you do accidently delete a file don’t worry as all is not lost. Just go to your Recycle Bin and ‘Restore’ the file.

*DISABLE PREFETCH ON LOW MEMORY SYSTEMS *

Prefetch didesain untuk mempercepat load suatu program dengan cara preloading programs ke dalam memory – ini ide yang buruk ketika memory kita kekurangan tempat…bisa jadi komputer kita jadi hang.

1. Click ‘Start’ then ‘Run’

2. Type in ‘Regedit’ then click ‘Ok’

3. Navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\’

4. Right-click on “EnablePrefetcher” and set the value to ‘0′

5. Reboot.

Note : Tips tips ini bisa jadi tidak begitu memprcepat kinerja komputer kita. Tapi dikebanyakan tempat cara ini berfungsi dengan baik. Jadi gunakan dengan cermat.
